Episode Summary
While riding his skateboard, Bart is hit by a car driven by Mr. Burns. He has an after-death experience and regains consciousness in the hospital. Attorney Lionel Hutz tells Homer to call if he wants to make a lot of money. When Mr. Burns offers Homer a mere $100 as compensation for Bart's injuries, he turns it down and calls Hutz.

Hutz assures Homer that he can get a million-dollar settlement. But first, Bart must lie about his injuries in court. Hutz also uses the expert testimony of Dr. Nick Riviera. When Burns realizes that he will lose the lawsuit, he offers Homer and Marge a settlement of $500,000. Marge wants to accept the offer, but Homer will not settle.

Burns' lawyers put Marge on the stand. She tells the jury the whole truth. Homer listens in disbelief as his million slips away. Sitting in Moe's Tavern, he wonders if he can still love the women who cost him a million dollars. Marge enters to apologize. Homer looks in her eyes and tells her he loves her more than ever.
